 Dr. Mahesh Chander: born on August 14th, 1964 in District Nainital of Uttaranchal state. He obtained his B.Sc. Agriculture & Animal Husbandry degree in 1984, MSc and PhD in Extension Education in 1987 and 1991, respectively. For his outstanding  contributions in the area of livestock extension research, organic farming and field extension activities and teaching, he was awarded ‘ISEE Young Scientist Award’ by the Indian Society of Extension Education. He was nominated as Member Secretary of XI Five Year plan Sub-group on Livestock Technology Transfer Service by Planning Commission, Government of India. At International level, for his contributions in the area of organic farming, the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM), Germany has nominated him to its most coveted Standards Committee. He has presented more than 60 papers/keynote addresses/lead papers/chaired sessions in National and International conferences held in India and Abroad (Denmark-1996, USA-1997, 2002 & 2006; South Africa-1998, Thailand-2005 and China-2006). He is presently working as Senior Scientist at the Division of Extension Education of Indian Veterinary Research Institute. He has guided seven Master’s and PhD students. The research carried out by the students under his supervision has been presented by them in national and international conferences held in India and abroad and published in top ranking journals having very high Impact Factors. Based on the choice of the students, he was chosen for the nomination for the Best Teacher Award consecutively for three years viz. 2002-03, 2003-04 & 2004-05 by the IVRI Deemed University. He was awarded the Best Teacher Award for the year 2004-05 by the IVRI Deemed University.
