Speaking at the convention on 'Protection of Entire Cow Progeny', Nischalanand Saraswathi the Shankaracharya of Govardhana Peeth, Puri said that there was a great threat to the native Indian cow progeny.
"The government should ensure that cows are protected and set up a research institute to study and protect the varieties of Indian cows. If cow slaughter persists, humanity is in for devastation," the pontiff said.
